On my Precision 650 (XP-Pro SP2) I’ve 3 HDD:

First HDD: 120Gb, IDE, operating system on this disk
Second HDD: 120Gb, IDE
Third HDD: 500Gb, SATA (controlled by a PCI/SATA card)

With DiskBench, on the 3 of them I do a create file batch (file size from 120Mb to 320) and I get these average speeds:
First HDD: 8 MB/s
Second HDD: 55 MB/s
Third HDD: 45 MB/s

I also did this test:
Copy F:\210_0103.psd to C:\210_0103.psd
Size: 104055156
Time: 2281 ms
Transfer Rate: 43,505 MB/s

Copy C:\210_0103.psd to F:\210_0103.psd
Size: 104055156
Time: 1516 ms
Transfer Rate: 65,458 MB/s

It looks to me there’s a writing problem on the first HDD.

I’ve checked temperatures and they are OK and on UltraDMA setting in DriveManager says “Ultra DMA” without any number after that.

Any suggestion how to get the first HDD back to normal? I’m not sure whether this problem started after I installer the PCI/SATA controller and disk, but it is possible.
