Check your BIOS? Might be disabled in there. Reboot and tap the F2 key while the Dell logo is on screen. (That's for WinME on my comp anyways)

Thanks for replying. I tried to get Bios to come up using F2 key and this didn't work, even though it say's at the top right corner of my screen F2 for Setup. I also went into help and it say's to use the Delete key but this didn't work either. ???

When you get into your BIOS you might want to check not only if the parallel port is disabled, but the mode it is in. The software probably needs the parallel port to be in a specific mode. The four choices you probably have Output Only, Bi-Directional, ECP, and EPP. Either try each one one at a time or check the manual for the software and see if it specify which mode.
