Hi,

I keep reading posts where people advise that one can solve various problems related to software downloads, installs, etc. by disabling antivirus and/or firewall programs. I'm on a cable modem, so isn't this a risky thing to do? (And, wouldn't it be risky even on a dial-up?)

Also, when a newly downloaded program advises one to close all Windows programs before installing, is that meant to include antivirus and firewall programs?
