Xp Upgrade Kit???

Well I already Upgraded to XP, but what is this upgrade kit from Dell that I read in some post?
"We anticipate the first shipment of Windows XP upgrade kits for those that received and submitted the upgrade coupons to begin the week of November 19th. The kits will ship throughout the months of December and January, and all should receive their kits no later than February. Per Microsoft requirements, all kits must be shipped no later than March 31, 2002. We expect to be able to ship all kits sooner than this, but cannot guarantee when an individual customer will receive their upgrade kit. You can check your individual order status through the Upgrade website."

****What coupons are you talking about? And how can you get the kit from dell????
Thanks in advance!!!

The upgrade kits are for computers purchased after June 1, 2001 and include the XP upgrade as well as the drivers to make XP work on each specific system. The coupons were sent with the system from the factory and you had to register for the upgrade and pay $20 for it.

I don't recall getting any coupons...and I ordered my system in late June. Is this information posted anywhere on the Dell website? Also, I ordered from dell.ca so does that make a difference?

What system did you order? What OS? Some systems were not eligible (such as refurbished systems).

It sounds like you're eligible for the coupon. Double check your paperwork that came with your computer and look for a green form. If you don't find it then contact customer service and/or repost in the customer service general forum. I bought my computer in August and sent in my coupon so I'm expecting my upgrade kit anytime, hopefully.

I ordered a brand new Dimension 8100 1.3Ghz with WinME. I've two different prices for the upgrade too...free, and $20. Can anyone shed some light on that and my original question?
