First, let me say, I have used PC's for over 15 years now and have the knowledge to intall new components, memory cards, hard drives, etc. I also have restored other PC's in the past with no problems. So I would consider myself and advanced PC user. Heres the scoop, I purchased this new XPS 400 recently from Dell. I ordered a TV Tuner Card about 3 days after my purchase and installed it. Well, it crashed my pc! I learned that Dell sent me an INCOMPATIBLE TV Tuner Card. Dont let them send you the HDTV tuner card without contacting that company first. They will run you through the steps of what Dell should have preinstalled in your system before that card will even work. They informed me that Dell is not doing their homework on these new XPS systems before sending out TV Tuner cards. I could not even restore this system without the CD's. I spent several hours on the phone, which wasted much of my valuable time that I really did not have to spare. Finally after getting the restoration CDs, and others and getting it back up and running. Dell sent the the correct TV Tuner Card, which works great. But now I have shut down problems. My system freezes up when shutting down. It wont even shut off using the power button. I have to physically unplug it from the wall. Has anyone else had this shut down problem? I have contacted Dell about this once, but of course had to go through their "mandantory" transfer from one person to another routine! Just to be disconnected in the end! Very frustrating and time consuming! I have to call them again tomorrow and it will be my last time. This is my 6th Dell PC since 2000. Desktops and Laptops for me and the kids. If I cant get this issue resolved in a timely manner tomorrow, I am returning it and switching to another PC Company, maybe MAC. So much for the IN HOME SERVICE we pay for, they make you do all the work over the phone yourself!!
