Access Denied when installing printer drivers
Recently my Inspiron 8500 stopped printing to my Canon MP450, both when trying to print through my network and with the computer directly attached to the printer. (Before this there were no problems.) Nothing worked to fix the problem, so I did a thorough uninstall of the drivers. Now, when I try to re-install, the Found New Hardware Wizard (which I've come to dread) pops up. No matter what I tell it to do--let the program itself find the drivers, or find the drivers in a specific location--the message returns the message that the installation could not be completed, Access Denied. After a few hours on the phone with Canon tech support, we determined the problem was a system problem. (Other computers have no problem printing.) I have full administrative privileges on my machine. I've run several virus scans--nothing shows up. I've tried to reinstall in safe mode, and with all of my various security software disabled. Nothing. Any suggestions?
