Alienware 14 screen upgrade?
Hello, I have the newest Alienware 14, but with the 1366 x 768 HD display. I want to upgrade to the FHD 1920 x 1080 panel. Is this possible to do on my own? If so would this panel work? http://www.laptopscreen.com/English/model/Dell/ALIENWARE~M14X~R3/
Two issues:
Don't count on a screen from an m14x working in an Alienware 14 (they're completely different systems).
If you want to upgrade the screen, the LVDS wiring harness needs to be replaced as well.
The other issue is whether you are willing to void your warranty, as upgrading the screen will do that.
the original site was in german for some reason but I had my AW14 translate it with bing. I think that this might be of some help to you....Sorry if it isn't. It wasn't easy looking for a answer to your question. You will have to change your BIOS in order for it to be compatible with the resolution difference.
