So I recently discovered that you can now get a GTX 1080 in to a notebook (however I have yet to find a retailer or site that sells just the GPU). Any links to a website or retailer would be lovely. With such a high performance GPU I'll will need a better CPU as well. But I am worried that my laptop cooler will not be able to control the heat. Obviously I don't want to fry my computer so confirmation on the amount of heat from a better GPU and CPU would be nice as well. Is thermal paste recommended? Also, would it be better to get a electronic store to install the components or would it be easier to install them myself (I don't trust myself enough)?
Any help at all would be appreciated.

Nvidia GTX 770M

The largest manufacturer of MXM format video cards for notebooks is Clevo -- they have supplied systems to Dell for sale as Alienware, and supply Sager, Falcon Northwest, AVA, Eurocom and others.
You would likely be wise to see if Dell releases a GTX1070 or 1080 for your system first -- there are no guarantees one will work at all, and with the GTX970 MXM cards still selling for upward of $1,000, you can bet the 1070s will be $1,500 or more each, so it's not a trivial amount of money to gamble on the upgrade.
Eurocom was selling MXM upgrade kits with the required hardware for Clevo-built systems -- they may be one to try for the GTX1070 if you have $1,500 or more waiting in the wings.
