So... I found the posting from michael B about recalibrating my battery for my Inspiron 1000 and followed the instructions.

 

Eventually the a screen came up called "Smart Battering Learning."  I understand it could take hours to run through the process, but..

 

The screen indicates there are 3 steps including unpluging the AC adapter.  The instructions I was following suggested it was a completely automated procedure.  Do I need to do something at some point?

 

Any advice would be welcome!
