the reason i need a boot disk version is because i cannot enter windows at all without it shutting down in 20 seconds - sometimes it doesn't log in at all!

You do not need a boot disk.  http://www.microsoft.com/security/incident/blast.mspx

Chances are you have more than one virus. If you can get into Safe Mode, quickly open a command prompt (start-run-cmd) and type shutdown -a, which should abort the shutdown.

If that doesn't work, your only hope may be to remove the drive, and install it as a secondary in a FULLY PATCHED, FULLY PROTECTED system running XP, and scan it from there.

Try F8 on boot up and select "Last known configuration that worked". If it will then let you boot up to Windows desktop, Run Mcafee's Avert Stinger(free download to make a Diskette). I was in CA last week and my Daughter-in-law's PC got hit with a worm, and that is the way I got it back.
