CANNOT START UP: Stop: C0000218 {Registry File Failure} HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!
Brand New Inspiron 6000, service tag:7Q89B71
Error message:
Stop: C0000218 {Registry File Failure}
the registry cannot load the hive (file):
\Systemroot\system32\config\DEFAULT
or its log or alternate.
It is corrupt, absent, or not writable.
Problem: CANNOT STARTUP
Discription:
1. My laptop ships to my hand with only one 256MB memory. I got another identical DDR2 memory
from Dell(exactly the same brand samsung) and add it to my new laptop. When the new memory was
first added, no problem. There was the above problem next day.
2.If I pull off either of the memory, it starts again and no problem. So either of the two
memories can make the laptop work.
3.I actually isntalled a older version of Winxp Home(coming with my old inspiron 8200) and the
computer works without such a startup problem.
4.Then I restored the ghost image in the hidden partition using ghost 2003. There was no problem
yesterday!
5.Tonight, it CANNOT startup!
