Driver Installation Sequence

Hi,

My HDD has been failing for a while now and I'm about to replace it with a new Hitachi drive. I'm having to do a fresh install of Windows 7 onto the new drive and I wanted to know the correct driver install sequence for my Laptop. I've looked on the FAQ but the link to the information is broken.

Does anyone have the step by step installation sequence

I believe the operating system is 64bit...so does that mean I only need to install the 64bit drivers OR are some/any 32bit drivers needed too?

    Hi Rob,

There are certain drivers that may work both on 32 bit and 64 bit platforms. Here is the link on How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you for this information. The link that you have provided states that the chipset drivers are the 2nd step but there are 4 different drivers in this category. Can you tell me what sequence these must be installed in. Just to clarify there are

    1. Intel Huron River

    2. USB 3.0 Host Controller

    3. Realtek Card Reader

    4. Intel Management Engine Interface

    Hi Rob,

I would suggest you to install Intel Huron River first as it is the Chipset driver. Rest of the drivers can be installed after that in any sequence.

Let me if you have any further questions.

    Hi,

thanks for the reply. I installed Intel Management Engine, Huron River, USB3 and Card Reader in that order. No major problems but did have a problem with the USB host controller utility saying USB3 host controller not found but I've uninstalled that program. All entries in Device Manager show as OK.

    Hi Rob,

Thank you for the response. When do you get the message USB 3 host controller not found? If all the entries in Device Manager is fine, then this message should not show up. I would suggest you to check the functionality of the USB 3.0 port.

Please reply if you have any questions.
