I bought a dell L502x a couple years ago. The original intention was to use it mostly with an external monitor. I did that for a few years and than bought a desktop tower for that job.

Now the L502x is going portable and coming with me wherever I go so I'm thinking it's time for a screen upgrade (something full HD). My understanding is that I will need to buy a screen and a new cable and I should be good to go.

My questions has 2 parts:

1) Are screens interchangeable? Can I pick any 15.6 inch screen on the market and stick it in?

2) If so, what is the best screen out there right now? I do photo editing so I'm used to having 2 dell ultra sharp monitors so something IPS would be preferred. If not what is the part number for the HD screen that came with the notebook (which I heard is pretty good).
