Mobile Graphics Cards ????

Hi All...
I need a little help on trying to buy a new lnspiron 6400.
At the moment it's coming down to the mobile graphics cards that are intalled.
I only have a limited budget, so it's between the ATi 256mb Mobility Radeon X1400 or the Nvidia 256mb Geforce Go 7300.
I don't really know anything about mobile cards so can anyone help point me in the right direction on what one to go with.
Also will these cards run Vista Ulitimate and Aero glass without any problems???
Cheers :smileywink:

Both will run Aero without problems. Both are hypermemory (they have 128M onboard and use the rest from your system RAM. As long as you are not planning to game, they'll both work; the ATI X1400 is faster than the nVidia 7300.

I agree, however games designed specifically for nvidia cards will suffer a *small* framerate loss but games that specifically say DX9 video seem to run smoother on my x1400 than my 6800(desktop with 256 deticated). This could start a giant thread about which is better though so sticking to the facts: ATI's hyper memory is an efficient pseudo caching system ATI uses that utilizes 128mb of onboard memory to half cache 128mb of shared system memory. It is moderately faster than using all shared memory. Nvidia's turbo cache does the same thing but could be configured with only 64mb onboard that caches 192mb of shared system ram OR 128 and 128.

Do not forget to buy 2GB memory. Up to now, I could not really figure out, how much main memory my Mobility X1300 really uses. Vista says, it uses 319MB ...
