Screen Adjustment Issues

hi all,

please help me on this:

I have a Dell 8200 laptop. and recently I've updated the video card driver. but after the updates, the windows logon screen (the windows, bluebar moving one) does not take up the whole screen anymore. (if the resolution is 640x480, it only uses that much of screen while the rest are left black. ) This happens to my programs/games too after I logon to windows.

Here are the steps I took to fix it, I went to Display property and under the video car options, i chose screen adjustment tab, and set it to: "scale the adapter to screen size"....

well okay, that helps a little as the games running in windows take up the whole screen. but the dilemma now is that everytime i startup my computer the windows logon screen never takes up the whole screen.

would anyone please give me some suggestions?

Thanks very much!

I have a Dell 8100 with same dilemma. Tried everything. I hear you are supposed to try fn+F7 keys at same time.  Never hurts to try.
