Service Tag Utility

Is there a location to download the Service tag Utility for laptop and desktop motherboards when we replace motherboards?  Dell sometimes sends a bootable cd, and sometimes they do not.  We would like to be able to create our own bootable cd.  Also, we always use the asset.exe command with the hidden switch of /s to change the service tag since option 3 on the cd they send us usually says the optiplex or latitude we are working on is not supported.  Thanks for any help.

    Next time they send the CD make a copy of it. There is NO place to download the utility to CHANGE the service tag. ASSET.COM only works IF there is NO service tag set on the unit.

    Hi,

    If it is new Motherboard that is sent out then definitely the service tag field would be blank and can be updated using Asset.com as Ed mentioned.

    Asset tag also has some weird undocumented switches... Open asset.com in edit.com and you would find some options like

    asset /s /d -> Delete a service tag - I don't think it works kind of blocked I think...

    If we incorrectly enter the service tag I have heard that there are utilites to change it...

    regards,
    The Apostate.
