Strange Freezing problem
I've had a problem with my Inspirion for the past few months and at first it wasn't a problem but now I can no longer use my laptop in any other way than on safe mode (with and without networking).
If I start my laptop in a normal way it will freeze almost instantly after logging on and loading windows. It doesn't freeze the entire system, but intead my programmes start failing and appear to not be responding, this includes my Windows Vista (64 bit). My mouse continues to move and it seems like the computer itself is still running, just that it has nothing to run as everythings failed. I have ran many repairs through it and diagnostics and nothing has appeared to be wrong. I have recieved 1 error code when running a BIOS diagnostic however I did not have chance to write it down before it disapeared, and when I did another diagnostic it disappeared.
I am really confused by whats going on, I've called Dell and got no where with their call centres, I have had several IT proffetionals lok at it who say wiping the system completely and installing Windows 7 would be a good idea. I dont want to go out and spend £80 on Windows 7 if actually the problem can easily be sorted.
Please help!!!
Thank you
Julia
