If I am almost certain no one will be home Monday, will they just leave it out on the porch.. or does someone have to sign for it?  And if no one is home, and they dont leave it.. is it available to be picked up at the post office?

im guessing you cant pick it up before an initial attempt because you could easily just steal someone's address and track the shipment till the last day and go grab it at ups.

With FedEX, I sometimes call and ask them to hold the package at the station for me to pickup even before their first delivery attempt. They check identification when I arrive for pickup. But I'm not certain about UPS. I think they will hold the package at the station for pickup only AFTER first delivery attempt.  Call them and ask....  The number used to be 800-PICK-UPS.  Good luck!

Some bad UPS drivers will just leave packages out. However, I think Dell requires signatures and requests proof of signatures on delievery, so only the most idiotic driver would leave the package for you.

Often they leave packages that require signatures until the end of the day so that you are more likely to be home- UPS delivers until 7pm, and my computer came about 6:45.
