Vostro 1400 slow down
Hi. I own a Vostro 1400 bought a year ago.
These days, my laptop will suddenly slow down. When scrolling in firefox, it will be slower. It takes longer time to start up Vista and also other programs. The whole computer just feels like im using a Pentium 3 or that im running lots of programs at 1 time.
I have checked my CPU temperature, its still about 45 degrees for both cores. Physical memory (according to windows task manager) is still about 47% and CPU usage hovering around 20%when im not doing anything but typing on firefox now. I have tried defragmentation, virus scan, adware but it doenst help.
The funny thing is this isnt the first time im experiencing this. The past few times, i have tried to open my heatsink and removed the dust from it. After that, the laptop will miraclously feel normal. The problem is, there isnt much dust in the heatsink. It felt as though i was just opening the laptop and closing it, and the CPU temperature doesnt change much.
Help? Is anybody experiencing the same problems as me? Any idea what is wrong with it?
Is there any other way to solve it or is it a problem with the hardware.

Your specs are pretty good.
Dell doesnt have a program that gets driver updates.

yes i tink its still pretty good now. but... it just suddenly slows down. im not sure why, 1 month after i last clean my heatsink, it will suddenly slow down, as though im running a memory intensive game on the background.
if i were to clean the heatsink again, somehow the speed will go back. im not exactly sure why to, because the heat sink isnt that dirty. its not to the state where it is covered in dust.
Anybody know why?
