- It says revision A00 on the back but a manufacturing date of Aug 07. I assume this is a new (HC?) version of the 2407 as I hear people talking about problems with early revisions and the newest being A04.
- The thing is really hot at the top. So hot I am thinking about going back to my 20". It is bearable to touch but much hotter than I've ever known an LCD to be, it heats the whole room like a sauna after a few hours. Is this a returnable issue? Am I likely to get a cooler replacement? I realise electrical things and power supplies get hot but my 20" was nothing like this and my iMac is never even warm, I don't think this is acceptable.
- The monitor is not level! I had a feeling it wasn't and just got the spirit level out - it is definitely off level and will not twist any more anti-clockwise.
Neither of the two issues are the end of the world but for the money I paid I'm far from totally happy.
I have been working with several of these monitors and they were not hot. Get it replaced.
If you have a service tag number associated with your monitor, you may use

Email support to setup the monitor exchange.
If you only have an Order number associated with the monitor, you must call in,
1-800-624-9896.
They will need the following information -
20 digit PPID number on back of monitor
Name, address, phone, email address
Order number
Issue: really hot at the top, not level
I am also have a problem with the temperature of my monitor which I received on September 6th. I have called and talked to Dell tech support. They stated that if the monitor is working and I dont smell smoke or anything burning, the monitor is fine.
If I touch the top of my 2407WFP-HC, it is fairly hot. Not to the extreme that its a sauna as posted by the original poster. If you have touched a Mac monitor and touched the top of it, it is either slightly warm or none at all. My monitor isnt even warm. I took a digital thermometer and placed it on top of the monitor. The temperature reads 108.3 degrees.
Is this normal or should I call Dell again and show them image? I purchased monitor along with Dell 530 (videocard had no VGA signal so I'm awaiting replacement part). I was also told that the replacement would be refurbished monitor and not new?
*EDIT*
So after reading Dell-ChrisM's reply to one of the other threads (http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=dim_monitor&view=by_date_ascending&message.id=82350#M82350). If it is within 21 days of invoice, it would be new and if past 21 days, it would be refurbished. So which is correct? My monitor/computer was ordered on 9/4/07
