I have this monitor now for about 2 weeks and it is by far not living up to its expectations. The out of the box colors don’t look right. Every preset has a major flaw. The normal presets display  a greenish yellowish tint over the whole screen. The AdobeRGB preset has orange reds and sRGB has dull colors.

While trying every preset out I find that sRGB is the less worst. The only way to fix the colors in sRGB is to adjust the color saturation setting thru the video card, but this can only do so much. The yellowish tint remains to some extent. This is best viewed when you place a second monitor in clone mode alongside this monitor.

The brightness of this monitor is just blinding. Setting it to 0 seems somewhat acceptable even though my old monitor can go lower, but the downside is that colors and especially the color white suffers heavily.  This wasn’t a problem on my old Samsung monitor. The brightness of the U2410 at 0 seems to be at the same level of the brightness at 50 or 70+ on my Samsung.

I’ve tested this monitor on lagom.nl and while it passes the black test, it fails the white test. Only 4 or 5 blocks out of 12 are shown. No calibration seems to fix this without losing black level. By selecting the mode selection video instead of graphics in the OSD it seems to pass the white level test. 11 out of 12 white blocks are than shown. But the mode selection video seems only to achieve this with a trick. Dynamic contrast. I turned dynamic contrast off in the OSD, yet it seems to do some minor contrast adjustments. I found this out while browsing this forum. The white background color seems to change to yellow when scrolling down while the left and right side of this forum displays a more dark grey color.

A total black screen in a dark room is just poor. Black than looks more like grey. My old TN monitor has a better black. This might also be because of the brightness. It seems Dell uses the brightness (backlight) to get a better white. IPS glow is also definitely an issue.
The anti glare coating makes this screen look sparkly. It just doesn’t look clear.
The pink tint issue I’m suffering from also isn’t acceptable.

The color profile provided with this monitor is broken and has officially still not been fixed. What is up with that? Must be a joke right. I found on this forum a non official beta v2. Common now. I paid good money for this monitor and how can it be that my old TN monitor half the price performs better.
All I wanted is  a monitor that performs better than my old TN monitor, but this monitor only does that marginally. Yes it has more colors and less to no banding, but the colors don’t look right. The viewing angle is capped by the IPS glow. Review sites acknowledge all the issues this monitor have, but still give a 4 or 5 out of 5. What is up with that. The panel used in this monitor is by far quality.

So does anyone have any recommendations on how I can fix the colors?
