I've bought this monitor yesterday(12.10.14), and I'm having an issue where the monitor turns off and on after about 3 seconds.
This isn't happening only with my PC, it also happens with my PS4.
After reading it might be a problem with the capacitive buttons, I've turned on the button sound from the menu.
When the screen goes off, I don't hear a sound as if the power button was pressed.
The interesting thing is, it happened to me 3 times yesterday when it was on gaming mode with dynamic contrast on, and only once after about 5 hours with the standard mode.
Any idea what it could be? I'd like to try all the options before returning it since it's quite a hassle.
Was this purchased directly from Dell new? What is the serial number? Go into the OSD (On Screen Display) -Other Settings and Factory Reset it. User's Guide page 44. Re-test.
I've reconnected all the cables and made sure they are connected properly, and also switched the power extension.
I still have a question though - I've connected my headphones directly to the monitor, and when I launch or close fullscreen apps, the screen goes black and the sound cuts for a second. Is that normal? doesn't bother me that much but I still wonder.
Not sure. But in the Guide, page 10, It states, "Audio-Line out Connect your speakers*. * Headphone usage is not supported for the audio line out connector.". So perhaps the manufacturer knew about this issue.
Well, the sound does work quite well actually, but what I mean is, you know when you change your resolution your screen goes black for a second? it doesn't matter of my headphones are connected to the monitor or not, the screen will still go black, and I know it's normal. I just wonder if the audio cut is normal, which I guess it is.
I'd be glad if you could confirm that for me by connecting a pair of headphones to a monitor, turning on music for example and then change the resolution and see of the sound cuts when the screen blacks out.
The going black should not be happening. We do not understand why you are not running the native resolution 1920x1080 for all devices? No, we cannot test headphones directly into the monitor per the User's Guide. But it makes sense that when changing the resolution, the audio could be interrupted because the monitor is in transition.
I am running the native resolution on all devices.
The sound cuts even when the speakers are connected.
I'm also guessing the sound cuts because of the transition, but I wonder why this transition happens with most of my games when I start them. I'll see if re-installing the GPU drivers will help. As long as those frequent transitions don't damage the monitor I don't really mind.
