Exclude files/directories
Hi
Is there a way in Legato Networker 6.2 to exclude directories from backing up. For example if I have a directory "C:\Junk" and my save set is set to "All" how can i exclude that "C:\Junk" from backing up while backing up everything else on the C:\

You can do that with skip or null directive. Bit of advice - 6.2 is not supported anymore so good luck.2007

yes i found it in the administration guide, and tried couple of different syntax's as follows

<<"C:\Junk">>
+skip:*.*
---------------
All
<<"C:\Junk">>
skip:*.*

C:\
D:\
+skip:C:\Junk
------------

skip:C:\Junk
------------
However I am getting an error message after I click ok to all those prevouse settings.
Error Msg:
Server "BackupServer_name": save set of All excludes the specification of other save set values for client "client_name"
Any other suggestions / advice would be greatly appreciated ... Thanks2007

You misunderstood how directives are used so none of your examples is correct. Please read directive manual (available from command line reference guide in documentation section).
If you define your directive as:<< "C:\Junk" >> skip: *.*
... it should work.
You can also check existing predefined directives to get better idea of them and syntax to be used.2007

I have implemented your solution however I am getting the following error message:

You should really read documentation. If we are talking about directive then logic is that what I said applies to directive and not saveset. So, once you create directive with what I said... everything will work - if not it's time to contact your support.2007

Please check the file name on client and the one you are entering into Save set2007

We have just doing some new directives in our enviroment, and in my opinion; the documentation is not really clear about it.
Please, check this WiKi, for us, was just more clear than the official docs. If external links are not allowed, sorry in advance...

Also, as an example in a Linux/Unix enviroment, to exclude a directory is working fine:
"The first line in blank"
<< /folder_to_exclude >>
+skip: .?* *
Important,. keep in mind the first line should be blank then also keep the blank spaces after and before, do it manually: using external editors -> Notepad, Notepad ++, or other is not recomended.
