Can you tell us a little more about your platform configuration.

Have you tried a client initiated backup?

Check you Event Vewer this may throw some light.

Check you devices and the tape drive device if you are using one, you may have a driver incompatibility issue.

Is the win2k box client in that group? Something like that used to happen to XP boxes too unless MS patch was applied. Perhaps something like happens with win2k too.

You didn't say why exactly crashes - I assume there should be entry in eventlog or crash dump should show why this happens (for example it might break because of some driver which gets used during backup like driver for tape).

I have never had NW crashed on me ever.

Before you run thebackup, can you check you Event Viewer to see if you have any other error message recorded in Applications and Systems.

What tape device is attached to your system?

    Has it been configured properly?
Do you have any other devices attached? or any other 3rd party cards?

Have you tried a CLI backup from the command prompt?

Has it ever worked? or is this a fresh install?

Have you checked the compatability guides to see if that particular version of Networker works with your hardware and software. If you are running Windows 2000 I am willing to bet you have some old hardware.
