There isn't a great deal involved - make sure you make a good backup of the server before the upgrade. Ensure that your storage nodes are updated to 7.5.1 too; normally your clients need not be updated but as you are running quite an old version I would suggest also planning to upgrade your clients too. If your device drivers are not up-to-date look at updating those too.
As you're running Windows its simply a case of stopping Networker, running the installation package and following the onscreen prompts.

There are some changes to the media database meaning you will not be able to roll back after update. I would also check the installation guide to see if you may need to first update to an intermediate version as you are updating from quite an old version. Thanks for your prompt response. I'll really appreciate you guiding me through this whole exercise. I'm really concerned about the current autochanger configuration on the clients and existing license seats. Does the upgrade require a clean install or i'll have to run the install on the existing version after stopping the services.
I really need to put up a proper plan in place before taking up this activity as i wouldn't want to run into serious issues on a production enviroment.
I'll wait for an upgrade guide from you that will help me from 7.2.2 to 7.5.1 as this is my first time on Networker.

There is a section on upgrading from a previous version. You can upgrade the software on Windows though it is better to do a partial uninstall leaving your metadata (configuration). Reinstallation with 7.5 should retain your existing configuration.

You will need an update enabler for licensing which you can get by emailing licensing@emc.com - you need to subscribe to maintenance to be entitled to this, otherwise you need to talk to your EMC account manager. There are licensing changes between 7.2.2 and 7.5, if you post an nsrlic output we can advise whether there may be issues.

You do need a proper plan - it is important to ensure you have a successful backup of the bootstrap saveset and indexes prior to proceeding with the upgrade. I would also suggest making a copy of /nsr/mm and /nsr/res (and if space permits /nsr/index) after you have stopped the daemons/services - you can never be too careful!
