I have a D600 running Windows XP Pro...the wireless card works fine and I can get onto wireless networks. However, I cannot connect to the internet when hardwired to the cable modem. The Local Area Connection shows that it is connected when the ethernet cable is plugged in, but under status it is only sending a few packets and not receiving any. The device manager shows that the device is working properly. According to ipconfig, there is an Autoconfi IP Address and Subnet Mask but no Connection-specific DNS Suffix or Default Gateway. It releases okay, but then times out when I try to renew. I have tried SystemRestore back to a time when I remember the NIC working (although it was with a different cable modem and ISP) and I have also uninstalled the NIC driver and let WindowsXP recognize the device again. Any suggestions as to what to do to resolve this problem would be greatly appreciated!

kprobin,
If you're connecting a different Ethernet device to the cable modem, you'll need to turn the cable modem power off for a few minutes before the cable system will accept the new Ethernet device.
But since you mentioned wireless, I'm a bit puzzled. Do you have a wireless router? If so, why not just connect the Ethernet cable from the D600 to one of the LAN ports to the wireless router, and leave the wireless router connected to the cable modem?
No process of reconfiguring, deleting/reinstall, etc. will bring the thing back to life.
It's connecting to the network, and getting a DHCP IP address, but restarting the laptop takes no less than 10 minutes, if connected to the network via the internal NIC.
Connecting wirelessly is flawless, but wireless is not necessarily the way to go all the time, especially when you have full 100 MB connectivity available.
Note that my reply was directed to the original poster. You may want to start a new thread regarding your problem. It sounds like your internal NIC may have developed problems, but in order to determine what the problems might be, you need to describe your system, and the way it connects to your network, in detail.
Please start a new thread. Hopefully someone will be able to help you.

I am having EXACTLY the same problem. I have done all the steps you describe as well, with no improvement.
I will monitor here for a solution.
Thanks.
