DFS Can someone help out please?...
Dell has been a great help to me to get through college and I’ve never had any issues with them until now. I just pulled my credit report as I am shopping for a mortgage and realized that I have to late payments reporting with DFS; one in 07/08 and one in 08/08; one is a 60 day late and the other is a 90 day late. I was never late before or after those payments and I believe that the late payments were a honest mistake of the Dell Financial Services Representative. This is because I wanted to pay off my account in full on the last payment I made before I was late and this is what I asked the representative over the phone to do. However I believe that there was a language barrier between him and I as he was hard to understand. When the call was over and I had finished paying my bill for that month I was under the impression that I had my account paid off in full, however some how it was not paid off in full. Then when Dell tried to mail me my statements to show that I was late they had the wrong mailing address and they had the wrong email address. They did try to call me but whenever I saw a 1800 number and the a recorded voice came on the phone asking me to wait I assumed it was a telemarketer and hung up. Finally a few months later after receiving multiple phone calls I answered to try and get the telemarketers to stop calling me. This is when it was explained to me that I still had a small balance with DFS. Then I talked with their supervisor and told them that I would pay it off in full, but I wanted it out of collections and to have the late marks removed from my credit report and they agreed to do so. However recently after pulling my credit I realized that I still have a 60 and 90 day late reporting, so then I called in and spoke with Earl Pineda on June 29th to explain the situation above. He said that he didn’t have the records to go back far enough to verify that DFS had the wrong email and mailing address, otherwise he would correct the credit reporting agencies himself. Right now I am shopping for a mortgage and this simple miscommunication between the DFS rep and myself and the fact that DFS had the wrong mailing address and email had lead me to being turned down for a loan. If anyone knows who can help me correct this I would greatly appreciate it.
