I have a PE 500SC running NT 4.0 SP6a with 2 Intel Pro nics - one onboard and one PCI. Only one nic is connected to the network at a time. The problem seems to be with the onboard nic. If it is connected to the network, then it cannot ping the gateway. If the PCI nic is removed, it works fine. The PCI nic work fine when it is connected. How can I get the onboard nic to work with the PCI adapter installed? I have updated the driver from the Intel site. Both nics are being managed by the Intel PROSet II driver.
(This system is part of a failover set of servers. If the primary server fails, all it takes is a switch of cables from one nic to the other to get the secondary server functional.)
Any suggestions?
