The wired LAN adapter is working fine. But when we attempt to use the wireless adpater it says that it is connected, but it constantly says that it is "Acquiring Network Address".  It eventually says that the address is either 169.254.30.245 or 0.0.0.0  The wirless adapter is set up to use DHCP.

 

Here in the office I have tried to connect it to 2 different wireless networks, one that is not secured, and the other secured with WEP. I get the same results on both networks. The user has also attempted to use it on a couple of wireless networks at hotels while travelling and got the same results.

 

I have also tried setting a static IP address on the wireless adapter and then connected to the networks and it tells me that it is connected, but then I cannot access anything on the network, no response to pings to other PCs or no response by the laptop to pings from other PCs.

 

I have tried it using the Dell software and with the Windows services controlling the adapter and I get the same results.

 

I have another D600 bought at the same time with the same O/S and same driver versions and it works just fine on both wireless networks, even when placed on the same desk as the non working D600.

 

I have also tried disabling the 1450 Adapter and installing a LinkSys PCMCIA wireless adapter and I get the same results. I have also reset the TCP/IP stack with no change in results.

 

Since the PCMCIA card gave me the same results I am assuming that it is not a hardware issue with the 1450 adapter, and that the problem must be in Windows itself.

 

I have looked through this forum at the posts that address the "Acquiring Network Address" issues, and have tried the suggestions that seemed like they might apply that I had not already tried.

 

Any suggestions before I try reloading the O/S would be greatly appreciated. Reloading Windows is going to be a pain because of all of the users applications that will need to be reloaded.
