NEED DRIVERS BADLY

I need drivers for my dell laptop Inspiron 600mST 8w66L61.  The ones on the site don't work, even though all looks OK  and is identified as OK under the hardware screen.  I believe it to be a Broadcom NIC and a Broadcom Wireless card(BCM94309MP)is on the wireless card.  I am not sure if it is the 440x or 570x gigabit NIC card  The Dell website has never failed me until today, from what I see I am not the only one with this issue.   Everywhere I have tried I run into the same problem the Dell drivers don't work, nor do the Broadcom drivers.  My screw-up as I did not use the image to re-install XP and can,t get to it for now.  Can anyone help?

Many drivers will not install or not install correctly unless the chipset drivers are installed as the first drivers installed after installing Windows.  So, if you did not install the chipset drivers first, that is part of your problem.  To find out which devices actually shipped with your computer, go to the following site, enter your service tag number, then click on the "Original Configuration" tab.

    Steve:

Thanks for the chipset tip.  I can always try a new XP install, then do the chipset install. The link told me nothing about the NIC but it is a Broadcom 1450 wireless mini pci card for the wireless. Any other suggestions?

The output for the original configuration listing is sometimes cryptic.  If you send me your service tag number in a private message (just click my name (Volcano11) in any forum window and find the option to send a personal message), I'll see if I can figure it out.  Don't post your service tag number in a regular forum message, as the post will get deleted.
