touchpad problems when connected to cat5e cable

I moved into an apartment about two months ago and ever since have had problems connecting wirelessly to the internet (my room is farthest from the router... worst connection, slowest speeds), so I bought an 100ft cat5e cable to use for a faster connection. Before installing it through the house I tried connecting it to the router and my notebook (Inspiron E1505) to make sure it worked while standing near the router, and I received the internet at 100 Mbps, everything was fine... Once installing it though and trying it from my room I found that while I could still get fast internet, the touchpad went crazy and would either freeze up or the pointer was delayed while trying to move it around. I took my computer in the hall, closer to the router and it worked fine again... I had my wireless connection disabled and the LAN was enabled during this time, so the wireless couldn't be interfering. Does anyone have any ideas what the problem/cause is?

Thank you,
Bettina

I am getting the identical problem, incredibly esoteric. Have you found a solution to this problem?

Please uninstall your touchpad driver from ADD/REMOVE programs it is labeled Synaptics touchpad. Then for the E1505 use this  driver. Since the other user did not post what system they are using you can use this link to www.support.dell.com and click on drivers and downloads, enter your service tag and go under INPUT device drivers and download the touchpad driver. See if this works. If not you may have some unwanted program causing the problem.
