i did the same (cam home from college for summer)i bought a wirless usb slot.  Mines the Netgear 802.11b adappter (40 bucks) for my usb port.  i basicall installed the hardware it came with and pug in.  it searched for a wireless connection found the belkin router across my house and boom i waas online as simple as that.

The only downside is that is own runs at 11mbps, even on my 54g router, this is mainly because its external and removable, but 11mbps is great speed online and for gamong for me so i am very conten.  i also see no lag.

P.s .in fall im buy a router for my apartment and use the adapter i have for my laptop i brought home, ill just install the router to my home pc in the apartment, then i can work pretty mush anywhere online iside and am no longer confined to a space.  alos FSU is coming out with "wirless spots" that work on campus that my adapter will be able to connect to. so its a good deal and can be awtiched between computer because its external.

keep in mind this router may be limited to how many wirless ports it has, so u may have to switch connection. mine only has two so only two pcs can be on at a time, i havent figured a way around this yet, dunno if there is

hope this is good advice and helps!!!!

    azs,

Does your daughter's computer have a wireless network card?  If not, then she will need one.  Do you have any security set up on your wireless network?  If so, then you will have to configure the the same security on your daughter's wireless adapter.  For example, if you have MAC filtering enabled on the router, then you will have to give the router the MAC address of your daughter's wireless network card to that it will be allowed on the network.  Wireless routers can accept up to 256 connections, so the problem mentioned by stevecotton does not apply.
