I am almost at the end of my patience here.  I have an Inspiron 1505 with a 1390 WLAN Minicard and a desktop with cable connection/ethernet card and a Linksys Wireless-G router.  I followed the directions when installing the router, did the wizard for Linksys, did the Windows Wireless wizard on my notebook, and I think set up the network okay.  But obviously not. 

My notebook's wireless is inconsistent.  Sometimes it connects, sometimes not.  Various error messages include "Gateway not connected" "Wireless not connected" "No wireless networks available" "No connectivity" and something about "DNS"  The notebook sometimes sees the wireless router and shows me the green bars, but can't connect.  Other times it won't give me green bars.  I did reset the router and reload everything a few weeks ago, redid the wizards, but to no success.  I even tried changing the channel through the Linksys site.  I refresh, I repair, I reconnect.  All in vain.

For a while I thought that when my desktop was powered off, the laptop would not connect.  That still seems to be consistent, though many times when desktop is online and active, the laptop still won't connect.

I would rather not spend the money on a "Geek Squad" but I'm starting to wonder if it's impossible to do this on my own.  I didn't think I was an idiot with computers, but I really feel like one.

I'm hoping the symptoms are familiar to someone out there and you might have a solution for me to try.
