32 bit vs 64 bit Specific Compatibility Questions
Hi,
I have seen posts about this issue but they are usually regarding gaming or business. I need specific answers to the following questions so I won't blow $800 on something that will be totally obsolete in 5 years.
I will be using the computer for... webpage editing, Movie and Video creations, watching TV on PC using various media players, video streaming, some non intense games (Santa Balls), burning movies and cds and general uses. Must be able to multitask without impeding performance.
Connections: I will not be using satellite, or cable connections initially, but I MAY add them later on.
I will add a HD TV Tuner to whatever configuration I decide on. I also want to install my current DVD-burner instead of purchasing one pre-installed.
Questions: Which is better for the above activities? Which will be the most compatible, upgradeable, expandable for the next 5 years? Which is most compatible with the currently available popular software programs? Which is the wave of the future? Can you show me or direct me to a comparison chart which explains the pros and cons of 32bit vs 64bit and their capabilities? I do have DSL now, but what if I moved to an area where only dial-up was available?
History: I currently have a Compaq Presario 5400US with a celeron 1200MHz 1.2GHz, 512 MB Ram and WinXP Home version 2002 SP3. I purchased this computer in 2002. It has been upgraded to capacity and the only reason I need to replace it is to be able to use a TV Tuner and watch TV on my PC. (It isn't powerful enough to upgrade beyond where it is now. I Tried.)
Thanks for the info,
ANONI
