Hardware issues with Optiplex 3010
I have an Optiplex 3010 I purchased used like, 5 years ago. It was already upgraded from Win 7 Pro to Win 10 Pro. It has 16GB of RAM installed. To the best of my knowledge, Windows update is current and up to date.
I have been experiencing random BSOD incidents so, I reached out to the Microsoft Community forums for any insight why this could be happening.
First, the individual (Independant Advisor) who assisted me suggested I look in the minidump folder and zip and send anything in there for them to analyze, which I did. The result of their finding was "The analysis result is: An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is usually caused by drivers using improper addresses."
He then suggested "Please use driver verifier to gather additional information." and gave me instruction and the command line to do so. I allowed that to run for 3 long days of very slow processes. This test suggested nothing so I was instructed to disable it. Then he suggested I run the "Windows Memory Diagnostic tool" and suggested doing it in Extended mode. I did this, using "mdsched" on the command line. Allowed it to reboot, pressed F1 and selected Extended.
This test hung up at 21% (as he suggested it might) for nearly 20 minutes and then generated the statement "Hardware problems were detected.to identify and repair these problems, you will need to contact the computer manufacturer."
I then opened and ran Dell's SpportAssist tool. It found one driver that needed updating, which was "Realtek PCI Ethernet Controller Driver", which I updated. I ran the memory test again on their suggestion and got the same result.
Is there anything further I can do or is it time for a new PC?
