Optiplex 7010 Running 3 Displays

Hi! This is my first post and have read a few posts regarding running 3 displays with my Optiplex 7010 SFF and come away more confused. I have the following set up:

-Dell Optiplex 7010 Business Desktop Computer (Intel Quad Core i5 up to 3.8GHz Processor), 8GB RAM, 500GB HDD, DVD, Windows 10 Professional (Renewed)

Purchased from Amazon

-3 HP Pavilion 22cwa 21.5-Inch Full HD 1080p IPS LED Monitor, Tilt, VGA and HDMI (T4Q59AA)

Purchased from Amazon and has HDMI and VGA ports

I tried to run 2 HDMI to DisplayPorts and 1 VGA and only 2 will work at one time, regardless of combination

I am a computer illiterate and tried to hire an IT professional from work, but it didn’t pan out. IT originally had me buy a renewed PC since my old laptop wasn’t allowing me to work from home, and they attributed it to not being able to upgrade to Windows 10, even though other coworkers have Windows 8 and it works fine, and some even when they upgraded to Windows 10, they are running into the same issue with the WFH when using the new F5 method. I digress.

I contacted Dell who told me I needed a better graphics card. I wrote to the vendor I purchased the renewed 7010 Optiplex and they stated it should run with my set up as is. At this point I hired an IT professional to help me out and was told to purchase this graphics card:

MSI Radeon RX 560 AERO ITX 2G OC Graphics Card, PCI-E x16 (uses x8),4K UHD ready

Purchased from eBay

IT came to install, realized this is too big and wouldn’t fit my SFF. I asked if there would be one that would fit this computer, he stated for SFF there aren’t micro graphics cards that would support 3 outputs/displays. I thought I read online some low profile ones may work, but I could have misunderstood.

I just need a basic computer to WFH and run my 3 displays. I work with mostly Microsoft Office Suite products, and occasionally need to view short CCTV footage.

Any help on what I need to do to get my setup to work, or anything I should buy to make it work is greatly appreciated. I like the renewed computer I bought, but am open to getting a tower if that’s what’s needed. IT stated they could build me one for about $450 with labor, but would rather just get this to work for as little as possible as I already have 3 laptops and don’t want to invest a bunch for a WFH setup that I only use 1-2 a week.

Thanks for reading!

onboard video is disabled when a card is in the slot.

The only solution is a card that supports more than 2 displays.

Thanks for your help! I just bought the graphics card you recommend from NewEgg! I see since they are mini DisplayPorts to DisplayPort, I would just buy 3 HDMI (to hook up to my HP monitors) to DisplayPort cables like so:

If this works and you figured out what my work IT Dept, IT Pro I hired, Dell customer service, AND the vendor I bought my SFF from couldn’t figure out, I owe you, big! This has been such a struggle.

Hi again @speedstep! I had the new graphics card installed and the displays work, however it keeps freezing and I have to reset it to get it to work again (pressing power power button off and on). IT said it may need a bigger power supply, but he said there are none that would fit mine. Do you know what the problem could be and if there is a power supply that would fit into the SFF?

Regular power supply will work but you wont be able to have it inside the case.

You remove the internal power supply and run the wires into the case in the hole left by removing the internal power supply.

    Minimum recommended is EVGA 700BR

You will also need a 15 to 6 pin power adapter for the optical drive.
