Memory for a T105: Mixing ECC and non-ECC

Dell literature indicates a T105 can use ECC or non-ECC memory. As long as I put in pairs, can I mix ECC and non-ECC in the same box?

T105 will not power up and complete BIOS checks with non-ECC memory and I have not found a combination which allows booting to an O/S using non-ECC:

    1. 2x 1GB ECC + 2x 1GB non-ECC

    2. 2x 1GB non-ECC

    3. 1x 1GB non-ECC

Result: bought 2x 1GB ECC memory extra for a total of 4x 1GB ECC.

Anyone noticed that Dell offer a limited lifetime warranty on Memory Upgrades but System Memory (as supplied with a machine) is limited to 12 months or 3 years depending upon the contract?
