I just recently was selected for a job as the sole IT person at my new organization. I have a PowerEdge 2550 rack server that I was told has hardware problems and stop working. Upon investigation I found the system only registers 256MB of system RAM even though it has two 256MB RAM chips installed. It is a dual Pentium III 1GHz machine. I tried removing the motherboard battery to reset the bios settings. After rebooting the bios briefly shows 512MB system RAM but after reinitializing the bios it again registers only 256MB. Is this normal? This is still a viable server for my organization and I would like to get it back into service. I would appreciate any help.
