POWEREDGE SC1400 - PIII
Hello Group,
I have a Dell Poweredge SC 1400, with a raided PERC-??SC Controller, and a Segate Hornet IDE 20/40 Tape drive. The tape drive has failed again, and I just want to install a larger SCSI tape. A quantum external DLTVS160 to be exact. I was wondering what type of SCSI card I would need, and if it would even be compatible with the 1400SC. I get kind of cadgey about dell servers because the bios and such is not like a clone. I once tried installing a IDE hard drive on a Dell Perc'ed system just for disaster recovery reasons and was told that a server could never be IDE/SCSI compatible. Yet I can't fathom how a PATA Travan tape and a PERC scsi array live together.
