I am new to Dell laptops, so my question may sound noobish. I have Dell 7670 Precision portable workstation, which is equipped with RTX A2000 GPU (8GB). For some of my tasks, it is not enough, so I would like to upgrade to RTX A4500 or RTX A5500 (16GB). Has anyone done something similar? Is it possible? Is it possible to do at home or in service center only? If it is possible, would it require other changes?
I have not found any direct indication that this can be done. But neither I found any direct message that this cannot be done.
The GPU in these systems is not soldered but is proprietary -- you would need to call Dell to get a price (be sure you're seated when you call) on the card. Installation would be at your expense and choice of shop (and could affect the warranty) -- Dell does not do post-purchase upgrades.
*NOTE: I am NOT a Dell employee, But I am a Community Rockstar*
Quick Tip: If your laptop has voltage / charging issues, try shutting it down, unplugging power from laptop, hold power button down for 30 seconds to do a full reset!
