The reason why they are sending you another printer is because of the type of warranty that you bought on the point of sale if this issue may happen again after your warranty expires there is no need to purchase another printer just try to contact Dell support they will going to diagnose your system and if they discover any part that is causing the issue they will going to send a technician to replace the defective part and the issue will be solved once the issue is solved you can buy a warranty extension and request the warranty to have a technician onsite, this option may vary depending on which country your located.

The part that creates that type of jam is usually the Fuser. It costs more to pay a tech to come out and replace the part (part cost extra) then it would to send out a replacement printer (refurbished).

 

From what I hear service tech. charges 100/hour (note an exact quote)  they bill a MIN. of 2 hours... plus the cost of the part.

I just came across a similar problem - I have a Dell 3100cn printer. I had just replaced the toner and a couple of days later, there seemed to be a jam in the paper tray1 that I could never find, then a week later, the MPF jammed in the part of the printer where it gets extremely hot. I can see it, but cannot remove it. I've called several local printer repair shops and none will touch Dell printers because the lasers are made by Samsung, and other parts are made by Lexmark, and so on. The 3100cn cost us about $600 and is only two years old. To boot, our hardware warranty has run out...is it worth the cost to pay a Dell tech to come here and repair it?

 

Any additional suggestions?
