This is my first go at asking a question and I guess I posted it in the wrong place. So here goes again - sorry!!!!
I have had my 911 all in one printer for over a year without probem. The black cartridge was almost full when suddenly the power button started to flash and an error message - left cartridge incorrect. Prints come out as white paper. I have tried the troubleshooter, switching on & off, unplugging etc. I cant see any bits of jammed paper and anyway it was working fine & had had no paper jams. Any ideas anyone please.
Is this a dell printer ? I dont recall dell making an all in one printer 911. Kindly mention the dell printer model so that I can help you on this. Is this by any chance a 922 printer rather ? and secondly are you using dell cartridge or refilled/non dell/remanufactured cartridges?
I have the same problem with the color cartridge on my 922. Going through the rest of the message boards, the only suggestions I have come across are cleaning the cartridge heads and resetting the printer (which you have done). However, neither seemed to be effective for people who's printers were not brand new.
According to the message board moderator, Dell is "still researching this," so there's no word on a solution or when they'll update.
Yes, this is a 922. I think this mistake I made was due to hours of frustration trying to sort the problem. It is a Dell cartridge. Thank you for your help but yesterday I spoke to a Dell technician and they are sending me a replacement cartridge. They are sure that this will solve the problem. I was very impressed with their assistance it was excellent. Thanks again.
The cartridge had been working fine, was a Dell and not refilled. Cleaning didn't help and when placed on a damp tissue the ink flowed freely enough. It had been showing half full but then suddenly had a question mark. As they are replacing it, I think they must be aware of what is causing a problem. Thanks or your help.
I'm having the same problem with my Dell 922 printer. The only difference is the error message I get is -right cartridge incorrect-.
Both ink cartridges are nearly full. Both are Dell cartridges purchased from Dell. Neither has been refilled.
The printer was used last week, and there were no problems. The cartriges have not been removed or tampered with.
I started recieving the error message this morning. I've tried the 'troubleshooter' with no results. Naturally the warranty on the printer expired on 6/27/06.
I'd be extremely grateful if anyone has any suggestions they can pass along.
I had really good help from Dell about this problem. Tel. this number 01344860456 for the switchboard, if you are in UK of course. They will put you through to the technical dept and the person dealing with cartridge problems. I spoke to a lady who took me through all the steps of checking for what might be wrong. When we had covered all of the obvious she said that I would receive a replacement the following morning. She was certain that it was the cartridge that was faulty and sure enough the new one arrived pronto by courier, and the printer worked fine as soon as the new cartridge was installed. If poss. have your receipt with ref. no. handy for the cartridge in question, this saves them the trouble of looking up the order. But I can't praise Dell enough for the help I was given. My warranty on the printer was two months passed, of course, but that didn't matter. No arguement, they just replaced it. I suspect from reading similar complaints posted, that this is an on going problem that Dell are aware of.
* The printer is a little more than a year old. Until now, I've had no problems.
* This is the first time I am replacing the color cartridge.
* Both the old and new cartridges are from Dell.
* The error message appeared as soon as I installed the new cartridge (unfortunately, I don't have the old one).
* I've tried unplugging everything a couple of times following the methods used in other posts.
* I've also tried cleaning the cartridge heads as described by others on the message boards. I did get a bit of ink when I did that, so the cartridge does seem to be full and not dry.
I didn't have another cartridge to try. But as I said previously, ring Dell, talk to a technical advisor and get a replacement cartridge. I didn't have to return anything. I didn't even have to argue my case. I am sure they are aware that there is a problem with their cartridges.
