Need help with printer sharing
I have a Dell XPS210 desktop, a Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop, an HP Photosmart 7760 printer, and a Linksys WRT54G wireless connected to my cable modem. I am running KIS 7.0 on my desktop, and McAFee on the laptop. I do not have Windows Firewall enabled, but have the KIS firewall enabled.
My printer is connected to my desktop machine. I am trying to set up printer sharing so that I can print from my laptop. I have set up the desktop and have the little 'hand' showing with my printer when I go to Printer/Faxes. I have the same name for the Workgroup on both. I have given a Share Name and pressed OK. When I go to the laptop to add a printer, I am stuck at the point where it says to select Select browser for a printer and press next. My printer does not show up in a list, the only thing I see is "Microsoft Windows Network."
What have I missed? What am I doing wrong? As you can tell, I am not too savvy on this, trying to do things step by step. I would appreciate any help you can offer me. I also do not know all the ins & outs of KIS, so perhaps there is something set incorrectly there with the firewall that is stopping? Thank you in advance for any and all help.
