I would appreciate any help please! I have Windows XP and my daughter needs to do a paper with Microsoft Word, I am not pc savvy and she is just learning about these programs. Is there somewhere I can try a free trial? Please tell me if I am correst - is MW a software that allows you to do something a certain way and a person who does not have it can not see it the way it was set up? If I am wrong please explain.
Word documents can be viewed in Windows' Wordpad. Free 30 day trials of Office & other office programs available here: http://www.microsoft.com/office/editions/prodinfo/trial.mspx However, I don't recommend this for your needs. If your daughter needs Word for school, your best bet would be to buy either the Student Teacher version of Office 2003 for about $120 or MS Works Suite with Word for about $60. Look for sales at Office Supply stores.
I agree with you about purchasing the Microsoft Word for her needs in school, which I will do of course. I just don't know how this program works and was interested in why there is such a program that one would need to have it in order to read a certain document. I am on my way now to read about it. Many thanks for your help.
