Hey forum Ops, we need an answer on this.  I can't seem to find the right driver for the 1100MP either.  It comes up and finds it, but you can't get the right driver off the internet, XP CD or anything you supply it. 

Anyone have an answer for this or do we need to wait on hold with dell support?

There are no drivers included. The USB remote functionality is only intended for use within Windows XP. No earlier OS is supported.

I have Windows XP Prof and a Dell Inspiron 1100 and I also get the error when it finds the "new hardware" from the USB plug -- it wants to install a device driver for DDP2000 and when it can't find it, it shows up in my device list with an error.  Also, only when the laptop is plugged into the projector, it makes my laptop run really slow.  Seems like something is missing... called support but they insist no software is needed.  If this is something that is supposed to be found automatically in Windows XP, then something is wrong as it cannot find it on my laptop.

Does anyone know any workaround?  My laptop works with other projectors just fine....  Otherwise I will have to return this cute projector.  Any help would be much appreciated!

As a workaround, cancel the add new hardware wizard. The operation of the remote will not be affected by canceling the wizard. In the event that you attempted to install the driver, remove the entry from Device Manager.

Chris is right. Just hit cancel on the installation and the remote works perfect. Chris was great on the phone and was able to help me right away. Thanks again Chris.

Thanks for the quick reply -- I appreciate it.  I had tried disabeling the device before but still had a slow running PC when the projector is connected.  I went ahead and removed the device, but I still have a very slow running laptop ONLY with the projector connected (not to mention, the hardware install messages that keeps coming up on DDP2000).  If I disconnect the projector (or even turn it off), everything is fine. 

I'm running a SQL Server database and IIS webserver which all run just fine without the projector.  I tried looking through my devices to see if there was a conflict anywhere, but I don't see anything.  It seems to do lot of disk activity it doesn't do if the projector is not connected. You probably are thinking I'm crazy, but I assure you, that is what is happening...  Have you heard of anything like that before?  (I ran a filemon trace with and without the projector but can't say as anything jumped out at me -- lots of calls to windows policies and msmsg going on when the projector is on/plugged in)  I also flashed my rom with the latest 1100A32.exe to make sure that was the latest, greatest and I am current on the Microsoft updates.

Any ideas on why the laptop would run so slow when the projector is connected?

 

Turned out the projector was defective -- or at least the cable was.  Dell exchanged it for me and now I'm on my way.  Love the projector!

I have a brand new Dell Inspirion B130 and brand new Dell 1100MP both from Dell Factory Direct and I have the DDP2000 problem. Least I say, I'm not very "Inspired" with my B130 and 1100MP interface.

Will I be notified when new firmware is available to fix this issue?

We won't be making firmware.

Problem: The Dell 1100MP projector may request a driver CD when attached to a computer using the USB cable

Discussion: When attaching the USB cable from the Dell 1100MP projector to a computer, the Operation System will prompt for a driver CD to install the appropriate drivers to recognize the DDP2000 chipset. This chipset is part of the USB interface, which allows the use of the remote control. If you attempt to install the DDP2000 driver, it will fail and a "bang" will be placed in Device Manager
