support is a joke

i have a 2200mp projector that lasted a year and a half. before the fan burned up in it.
when i called support they said all i needed was a light kit, which sells for 300 dollars.
so, i ordered the light kit and it didnt fix the problem.
when i call back and ask to buy a fan for it, they said they have  no parts or part numbers.
they told me to send it to "out of warranty" repair.
i called "out of warranty repair" and they told me, that they dont work on projectors.
as far as i can see, dell is only interested in the selling, and not in customer satisfaction.
in the past 3 years i have spent over 5 thousand dollars with dell. and have never had satifactory support from them.
sure they will answer the phone 24 hours a day, BUT, can the person speak english ?
i guess i should learn poonjabbi so i can communicate with them.

Please provide your service tag number so I can check the warranty dates and history.

Buyer beware is a lesson we all should learn. My lcd tv I paid 600 for is garbage , as far as I know ,and Dell couldn't care any less. Screen went black , and still is , since I can not find anyone to repair. Shops around here say they will not look at it because of parts supply problems , and after the usual phone tag run around , speaking to oh so nice support personell , I was told to buy another reman one, and for the same price as the original new one! These people are off the wall! I spent about 1/2 what you did on Dell proiducts I bought ,but still , if you are not a corp buyer or gov't contract , the company (Dell) does not care about you. Lets spread the word , they'll remember us or lose the business. We all knoiw this is not working. Til then,we are ,

alabama a&m. not to mention, i am a local disc jockey and while i would never liable
myself, i could tell of my personal experiences.
but, i havent given up hope on getting some type of satisfaction yet.

Just to clarify, did any of these issues occur before the warranty expiration date (11/13/2004)?

the fan made noise from the 1st day i had it.
i mentioned it to a tech that i was talking to about my inspiron problem at the time and he said
not to worry about it. that some fans are noisier than others.
over time, it got louder and louder. when i called tech support , they told me all i needed was a light kit.
so, i ordered the light kit for $307.oo and installed it.
the noise was as bad as ever, and then it just quit, within ten seconds the lamp went dark , it went into cool down mode , and hasnt worked since.
i,m not asking for a warranty repair. but i believe you should service what you sell. or, at least have the parts for it.
this projector was not used on a daily basis. i bought it , to watch college football (ROLL TIDE) and did watch an occasional movie on it.
i'm not asking for a warranty repair. but , i believe you should service what you sell.
how about a refurb trade in sevice ?

i talked to a local electronics tech, and he said most projectors have a fail-safe that, will

kill power to the unit if a fan goes out. to keep it from overheating and cause a fire.

We cannot service the projector outside of warranty. We don't have a refurb trade in service. It should have been replaced while it was under warranty due to the noise.
