I have taken the E22-285 VxRail Appliance 4.x Deployment and Implementation Exam practice test half a dozen times and score perfect every time.  I have thoroughly read every piece of documentation including quick start, planning, installation,  administration and network configuration guides.  I have read white papers, watched demonstrations, presentations, white boards.  I have found resources on the internet and Dell/EMC forums for troubleshooting.  When I signed up for the certification test I was very confident.

My score came back.  47% - Fail.  I went back through questions I clearly remembered including multiple choices to find I answered correctly based on my reference material.  When contacting the test team they said the test was scored correctly.  They also said the test was based on the training materials for the instructor led and on-line classroom course which I can't afford at this time.  Frankly the only thing the course would provide me is how to answer certain questions on the quiz.  I am completely confident in my knowledge of the product.

My question is this.  After failing the test I have doubled down on my studies and understanding of the product.  I can't imagine a question that I do not know the answer to.  However, it seems that there may be a version difference where one answer is based on pre-4.x and another is based on current 4.x versions of VxRail.  Also, there seems to be questions that may have multiple correct answers and the only way to know which one the test refers to is by taking the course.

For example, what is the command to restart Loudmouth on a VxRail node? 

systemctl restart vmware-loudmouth

/etc/init.d/loudmouth restart

Searching the internet found multiple sites that suggested each answer.  Does anyone know which one is the correct one?

Also to query Loudmouth the command is slightly different:

what is the command to query Loudmouth?        (answer: /usr/lib/vmware-loudmouth/bin/loudmouthc query)

The test tries to trick you with one choice that leaves off the "/bin" directory in the path.  It also lists another possible answer to use the "systemctl" command to run the query.

Taking the test cost $200.  My concern is that obviously some of the materials I have are misleading me to answer the questions incorrectly.  So even though my score report shows the areas I scored that need review how do I know what I am reviewing will be the right criteria for the test?  Any suggestions?

At least the knowledge I have acquired has made me very confident in my ability to present, install, deploy, administer and troubleshoot the product.  At this time I just want that to be acknowledged.
