Who told you about the EOL date.  Normally Dell gives 3 years to get off not one year.

I downloaded the spreadsheet for software (middle link) and found this entry. I am assuming EOSS is end of service, but I could be wrong.  

There are always options if the time is right.  7.2SP12 just released, so there is time no matter what happens.   And yes 7.2SP9 is End of Support Service (EOSS) 12/31/2022, but SP12 will be well out from that.

Still not seeing an official statement, but in meetings where this came up, December 2024 has been given as the tombstone date of 7.2SP12 for service and for end of any sales.

New to the industry and hearing lots of rumours.  What are companies electing to do and who are they using to Migrate?

There are a lot of options to migrate to, we have a lot of customers that are going to MS365 EXO from S1, some looking at other cloud archives, some looking at other premise archives.  It really is to the needs of the customer and the requirements/regulations that have to be adhered to as to what they need to do.  It is a lot to consider, so there is not cookie cutter answer.  I work for a company that develops an archive solution, so I have some bias, but I hate to see S1 leaving the market.

As to what to use to migrate, depends on the archive source, the migration target, the amount of data, how many users, and what level of change your organization is willing to tolerate.  There are a number of tools on the market and the various vendors take different approaches to how they do the migration and what services or resellers may be involved in the migration project.  Main thing to keep in mind is the amount of archive data you have and where you want to go, that will determine the level of effort and level of success.
