Hi

Ive been having trouble with my dvd burner for a while. Burning programs dont recognise it. I can be trying to burn a dvd and it tells me it fails as i have a cd in the drive (even though I dont).

I can burn audio and data cds fine, listen to audio cds and I can even watch dvds, just not burn them. Device manager says the drive is working properly.

I ran microsoft fix it program and got the following message " the selected drive is not capable of writing, if you have a second cd dvd drive try using another - otherwise you may need to install a cd dvd writer".

Reading into this, I am assuming the drive is stuffed. I just wanted to confirm this is the case. I read other posts which seemed to have solutions to reset upper and lower filters but my issue seem slightly different.

If anyone can confirm that I either need to buy a new dvd drive or provide another solution or test to see what the problem is it would be greatly appreciated.
