hd failure on 3-month old system
Hello:
I just spent 3 hrs on the phone with Dell "support." No luck. They indicate I must send my drive back within 10 days of receiving my new drive or they will charge me for the broken/defective drive. They insist they CAN hold shipping me a new hard drive until I get my "broken/defective" drive back from the consultant who will remove my needed data. I am, they continue to insist, out of luck since, although they really want to help me, they can not help me with this issue. So, I apparently have 10 days to get my data off of the drive or have to wait to get a new drive for my 3-month old system that is, of course, under warranty.
Anyone know anyone who can remove data, within 10 days, from a HD that "clicks?" Can Dell really "provide" such good support? Surely DELL can ship me a new hard drive and indicate that they will charge me some fee if I don't provide an update on the status of the defective drive within 30 days.
I run a small consulting firm. Lucky Dell is so big...they wouldn't get so big if their support didn't understand the customers issue (say someone in New Delphi who DOES NOT even understand that I was sent back and forth between tech support and customer support---each insisting only the other could help me.....ARG!
I really hope Dell can assist me with this issue.... ?
